DDR3-1333

DDR3-1333 is the second-highest speed of DDR3 SDRAM. It is also classified as PC3-10600. Technical information for DDR3-1333 is the following:

I/O bus clock: 667 MHz

Memory clock: 166 MHz

Cycle time / Access time: 6 ns

Data transfers: 1333 million/s

Peak transfer rate: 10600 MB/s

Memory timings / CAS lacency (CL): 7-7-7 or 8-8-8 or 9-9-9 or 10-10-10

DDR3-1333 chip options are 512MB, 1GB, 2GB and 4GB as far as capacity. If two chips are combined together in a computer, a maximum of 8GB could be reached. The technical limit for a DDR3-1333 chip is 16GB, so in theory even higher sums of RAM could be attained. Anywhere from 2GB to 4GB is now common for standard memory included in a new computer or laptop. Top of the line computers may come with more than 4GB, however. Intense or specialized usage of the PC might also require more memory in an upgrade.

"Double-data-rate 3," or DDR3, transfer data at twice the rate that DDR2 does, which in turn has a data transfer rate twice that of the original DDR SDRAM. Since DDR3 uses only 1.5 V, compared to 2's 1.8 V, it goes through less energy during its use. DDR3 also has an 8-bit prefetch buffer, compared to the 4-bit one of DDR2, and 2-bit in DDR.
